Local Benefits
Free In-Person Consultation (After COVID)
Most online editing services are impersonal; clients typically do not get to talk with their editors—and in some cases, they do not even know the editors' names! This causes trust and accountability issues. I prevent these issues by offering free, one-on-one consultations so that I can build trust with my clients and properly address each document's unique needs.
In normal circumstances, local clients get an even better deal, as they can choose to have their consultations in person. Once the COVID era ends, I'll bring this benefit back. Until then, all consultations must be online or by phone. The consultation is optional, of course. However, I know that, after talking to me, you will be confident entrusting me with your documents.
Disclaimer: The consultation is free only if you have requested quotes for documents that are worth at least $50 total (or have a project that would clearly exceed $50 in cost). Documents that I have begun editing do not qualify.
Local Student, Educator, & Business Owner Discount
Because many of the people who benefit most from high-quality editing services are also short on cash, I offer a special 7% discount for local students, educators, and business owners. This discount applies to all documents submitted by users who attend or work for a Denver-area educational institution, as well as those who own local businesses.
To claim your discount, when requesting a quote, state in the comments that you are a local student, educator, or business owner. I will then contact you to get proof of your eligibility. Once I have that proof, I will apply the discount to that document—and all future ones!
Disclaimers: The discount is reflected in quotes for known qualifying users, but the final discount is based on the invoice price. I will accept any reasonable proof of eligibility, including IDs, business cards, and faculty directories.
Pricing
My standard rate is $36 per hour. The minimum charge is $9 (=15 minutes).

I edit as fast as 1500 words per hour, or $0.0240/word at my standard rate. However, special services (e.g., ESL/EFL or style-guide editing) take more time. This can increase the cost per word. (The hourly rate stays the same.)
My rate is higher for rush services: $50/hour within 24 hours, or $42/hour within 48 hours.

I offer a 10% discount for bulk services (20+ hours of work), whether for one large document or many smaller ones.
